Essentially sustainable
As a manufacturer of recyclable products, Progroup is part of the circular economy that conserves resources. Our containerboard is made from recovered paper, a secondary raw material. The corrugated board end product can be recycled. This means we set an example of how a successful circular economy can work. Taking ecological, economic and social responsibility has always been part of the role we feel we must play as a family company. You can continue to follow us on this journey.
Sustainability report for the 2023 financial year
We are judged by our actions. This is why by now publishing the sustainability report each year, we present a comprehensive review of our social, ecological and economic activities.

THESE ARE OUR PROGROUP GREEN HEROES
The circular economy is part of the answer to the pressing issues of our time in relation to conserving resources and doing business sustainably. It minimises waste and makes a crucial contribution in helping to use raw materials responsibly and efficiently. With our products, we at Progroup are a key part of this circular economy that conserves resources. How do we contribute to a sustainable future every single day? Our Green Heroes will tell you:
Always looking to the future
Sustainability has been actively championed at Progroup ever since it was founded in 1991. As a manufacturer of products that are recycled, we are part of the circular economy, and at our sites we embrace the principle of zero waste to preserve precious resources. For our customers we are a reliable, strong partner; for our employees we are a reliable employer that offers real prospects. This is because we are not just interested in short-term commercial success, but are instead focused on the sustained development of the company with a focus on growth – we call this future-proofing the business. Our online magazine provides an insight into our projects.
How we champion responsibility
At our 20 sites in Central Europe, as an attractive employer we not only create modern, long-term jobs, but also take social responsibility. We get involved in public life and in projects that benefit society as a whole – particularly in education and training of children and young people. To boost the economic strength in the regions, we prefer to work with skilled businesses from the local region.
Preserve the environment, conserve resources
As we live in a period of climate change and energy crisis, it is all the more important to take good care of our resources. This is also the idea behind our containerboard and corrugated board sheets. The specially developed NextGen products are not just very light and yet still strong, but are also produced in an extremely eco-friendly way.
Investments in eco-friendly technologies
To manufacture our products as efficiently as possible in a way that conserves resources, we use innovative high-tech machines at all our sites. In Sandersdorf-Brehna, for example, with PM3 we have constructed one of the world’s most modern paper factories. An integrated circulating water treatment plant reduces the amount of fresh water that is used by 80 per cent. The plant purifies the process water so that it can be reused and generates biogas at the same time. With the waste-to-energy power plant in Sandersdorf-Brehna, which is expected to go into operation at the end of 2025, we are implementing a holistic circular economy concept and saving an additional 80,000 tons of CO2 per year.
